Tournament FAQ

Everything you need to know about competing

Are tournaments open to enter?

Yes! All Chess Junction tournaments are open to all players. We believe competitive chess should be accessible to everyone.

Do tournament games affect my rating?

Yes, tournament games are rated just like lobby games. Your performance impacts your Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, or Classical rating depending on the event.

What happens if I disconnect during a tournament?

Your clock keeps running. Try to reconnect quickly. If you lose on time, you can still play the remaining games in Swiss events.

Can I leave a tournament early?

In Arena tournaments, yes—you can leave anytime. In Swiss tournaments, leaving forfeits remaining games and may affect your pairing for future events.

What is Berserk mode?

In Arena tournaments, you can "berserk" at the start of a game to cut your time in half. If you win, you get an extra point. High risk, high reward!

How do I create my own tournament?

Clubs can create private tournaments for their members. Create or join a club, then use the tournament creation feature.
